I’m going to Hawaii for winter break. According to the following picture, it’s pretty much destiny.

That was taken on the way back to Seattle after Thanksgiving. If this was Final Destination 2 and I were looking for signs to watch out for, I wouldn’t get on that plane in three weeks. But it’s not. If you need more proof of how destinacious this is, check out the egg I cracked yesterday.

You might think I meant the plural “eggs”, but it’s a double-yolker! For those unfamiliar with the superstitious aspects of double-yolked eggs, they mean you’ll be going on a trip away from home and having tons of fun. Actually, it’s usually less fun and along the lines of death or a baby coming my way. Neither one sounds too great right now. I told Jerry that the extra yolk probably means I’ll be getting extra-yolked before going to Hawaii. That’s certainly the least likely situation.

1 Sitting in an empty computer lab for two hours isn’t exactly as exciting as it sounds.
It’d be a good time to count up my record for NFL picks (I’m gonna go ahead and say all road teams for the past weekend, I think that’s fair. I promise I don’t know if that helps or hurts me.), but would you look at that, my shift is over!
I looked up the lyrics to “Temperature” so that the song might make sense to me since it still gets play once in a while after what seems like eight years. It makes less sense after reading the lyrics.
As far as I know, this isn’t against work policy. But I’m also new so I don’t really know much. I don’t mention work much here because 1) there’s not much to mention. I bet you thought there was gonna be a 2) and 3). Well, I did too but then I couldn’t think of anything else.
From the beginning of this school year, I’ve been a consultant at the computer labs. Essentially, I tell people how to use the print stations. Sometimes we fix laptops and such. If luck isn’t with me someone will come with a plotter (aka giant printer) job. That’s not even all that bad. Hopefully Karma doesn’t rage on me for enjoying work.
Those $100 Xbox 360 Core Systems are coming out tomorrow. Good luck. It’s worth a shot.
Jay-Z says Just Blaze is the new Premier. I say Jay-Z is crazy. Anyway, here’s a decent interview with Premo.
Check out these logic puzzles. I only know the answer to the dog, corn, and chicken problem. That’s because it’s the exact problem from book 13 (Mathemagic) in the dope Childcraft series by World Book. The difference was that it was a goat, a wolf, and a head of cabbage. I read Mathemagic cover and cover a million times and ignored the rest. I just looked it up and Mathemagic isn’t in the current versions. Terrible.
Ok, now I have something to mention about work. Someone just came up and asked if we were open tomorrow. We said nope and he said, “That’s unfortunate, I was hoping you’d have better hours.” Correction: it’s unfortunate that you’re not planning to enter food coma via turkey tomorrow.
Enjoy the holiday.
As much as I talked about and defended resellers, I’m glad to see that PS3’s aren’t going for $3000 on Ebay anymore. A few days ago I was in favor of a rematch between OSU/Michigan for the championship game. Now I’m convinced that someone else should get a shot. Hopefully Notre Dame, if only to make my brother happy this holiday season. The topic’s already beaten to death and there’s no stopping it until maybe March or so. Anyway, something seems wrong with two teams playing consecutive games against each other and one being a championship. Actually, now that I’m writing this, I can’t really decide. I’m a fence sitter.
I just checked Dan’s site, and it looks like this will be a little longer than I thought. Stealing ideas is so hot right now. Here I present Five Things I Think About… Gaming:
1 Check the first sentence of this entry.
2 Microsoft’s got the best online network and that seems to be far more important to American gamers than to the Japanese.
3 Elite Beat Agents is hysterical. Seriously. It’s also pretty fun.
4 Even though Tekken 2 looks better than some Wii games, I think the system will succeed. It’s definitely priced well. I’m in the camp that thinks everyone will get a Wii to complement their 360 or PS3 and that it’s not actually in direct competition with the other two consoles.
5 I have a better chance of winning bronze in the women’s 100m dash at Beijing 2008 than Microsoft has of toppling Nintendo or Sony in Japan.
Now a weather report. If you live in Seattle, there’s some scary lightning strikes around town. Try not to get hit. Just remember the basics (Don’t run around in open fields, don’t climb to the very tops of trees, don’t star as Jesus in movies, etc.) and you should be fine.
I’d like to take some time out of this exciting Friday night to comment on the Playstation 3 launch. People are going nuts, riots are breaking out, and resellers are making a good amount of money because of the console. There are a lot of “hardcore”, “true”, “real”, “old-school” gamers that hate that most campers know little more than how much the system is selling for on ebay. It comes with the territory. Videogames have been big business for years now, and the industry’s growth, for the most part, helps to improve the quality of the products being put out. It also creates a demand too high for the supply.
I don’t really know where I’m going with this. Anyway, don’t be mad at resellers. If you’re gonna blame them, go ahead and blame the crazies that are paying so much for them. Also, don’t say things like “they should just get jobs,” because most jobs don’t pay $1000 for staying in one place doing nothing for a night. If you weren’t able to get a PS3 and actually wanted one to keep and play because you like good games, then you aren’t missing much. Just play your 360, it’s been having a pretty good month.
Game of the Century
…was the Rose Bowl ten months ago. Go Michigan! What matters more is whether or not WSU will continue to dominate us in the sports that matter. I’ve gotten too many text messages from Russ saying things like, “Good luck good game today!” followed a few hours later by “Sorry you guys lost!”
Television
This week’s episode of The Office might be the best in the series’ history. The show just keeps getting better. Friday Night Lights was really good the first three weeks. It hasn’t gotten better than that, but it’s not much worse either. I’ll be amazed if they keep up the good work for an entire season.
Jay-Z and The Game
Doctor’s Advocate is a better album than Kingdom Come. As high as the expectations were for Jay-Z’s return, he’s one of the few artists that would be able to meet them. And he didn’t. It’s not terrible, it’s just not great, especially considering how he killed guest verses during his retirement. “Black Republican/Militant” with Nas is better than any song on Kingdom Come. And the Gomez Brothers need to be deported for being so greedy with the song and yelling over like 80% of the track.
School
sucks.
But not today. More about the weather. It’s been raining more often and that gets depressing. Hopefully we don’t get a repeat of last year’s unsuccessful run for the consecutive rainy days in Seattle. I promise to never complain about sunshine ever again.
Stealing ideas is so hot right now (see: Day Break). But I come up with original ideas. Here I present Five Things I Think About… the NBA:
1 Detroit’s getting mauled right now by Golden State. That’s actually not one of my own thoughts. Actually that’s pretty much not a thought period.
2 Gilbert Arenas is crazy and it’s been highlighted this year by tv, magazines, and blogs. None portray it better than his own blog. He’s one of my favorite players, so enjoy this footage (”Blair Witch” perspective is the term I think, but I dislike that term because it scares me) of his shot that put game six into overtime in the opening round of last year’s playoffs.
3 Nate Robinson’s put-back on Friday was nasty.
4 Finals: Spurs over Heat
5 Before the minor injury, Brandon Roy started the season off well. To the point that it makes me worry about UW’s upcoming season. Everyone knew he was good, but it makes me wonder how much of a load he was carrying last year. More footage from the stands. This was recently added, and tonight is the first time that I’ve seen it. I was looking for the television footage. I’m glad my night’s almost over, because I just ruined it watching these clips.
NFL Picks
I’ll add up my results so far soon. This week: All the Home Teams.
I’ll close this entry with a picture of a butt. It’s more interesting than it sounds. Actually maybe not.
The Sonics/Lakers game is on right now, but there’s always time for a quick entry. Me and Dan both had laundry to do earlier and I got my first load started before noon. Dan thought he should’ve had first dibs on the washer, and he let me know why:
I should’ve probably washed my clothes first because one of us is going to the Lakers game and one isn’t.
Guess which one of us isn’t at the game. Dan, I’d like to publicly apologize: I should’ve let you use the washer because of the terrible circumstances preventing you from doing laundry tonight.
Drew Bledsoe’s Blog. Pretty much as good as it sounds.
