I read an article on Sum Ish (“Disappearing Acts”) that reminded me of how much me, Dan, and our friends used to love Canibus. Here’s a small tribute.

“Desperados”
(opening verse). Off The Firm album. One of the few verses I’ve memorized in my life.

“How We Roll”. I think this is the one Dan says he used to do sit-ups to every night. This album is ten years old. That doesn’t make me feel good. He’ll jump in a taxi and rhyme till the meter hits nine, nine, nine! Hey Canibus, how many lines you got? “More lines than a million pair of Adidas. More lines than the Bible quoted from Jesus. More lines than an African herd of zebras.”

“Fantastic 4″ (his verse is at 3:15). Off DJ Clue’s album “The Professional”. Me and Curt listened to this CD a few hundred times over the course of dozens of two-person sleepovers. Which reminds me of the dudes who did the Ruff Ryder Anthem at our middle school talent show.
